WOW – we have some amazing, talented students, teachers, administrators, and parents at our school!!! The Celebration K-8 PTA proudly presented its 3rd Annual Talent Show on Friday, May 9th – “Color Me Impressed”.  An appreciative crowd cheered on the efforts of our participants  who took the stage at the Randy Johnson Performing Arts Center at Celebration High School.

All proceeds from this exciting event are used to fund the exceptional programs and activities the PTA brings to the Celebration K-8 School.

Awards/Prizes for each age division were decided by a panel of impartial judges and based on creativity, presentation, and preparedness.

Grades K – 2nd

1st Place: Neon Lights (Dance) – Lauren D. & Jade R.

2nd Place: Code Red (Monologue) – Chloe L.

3rd Place: Purple Shuffle (Dance) – Thea B.

Grades 3rd – 5th

1st Place: It’s Not Easy Being Green (Comedy / Vocalist) – Diego J.

2nd Place: Freeze Frame (Dance) – Maria B.

3rd Place: In Summer (Dance) – Courtney E.

Middle School

1st Place: Kaleidescope Heart  (Dance) – Isabella V.

2nd Place: True Colors (Vocalist) – Abby R.

3rd Place: Gravity (Vocalist) – Ava Z.

THANK YOU to all of our volunteers. From ticket sales, to concessions, to ushers, to back stage crew – it’s you all that help make this a  wonderful event for everyone.

THANK YOU to Celebration High School, Barbara Bowers, and her amazing group of students that acted as tech crew and  emceed the performance. You did a great job and really pulled together our show.

Chick-fil-A “Spirit Week” – May 5th-8th. SAVE and TURN IN your receipts!!!

The Cow will be coming to visit us Monday, May 5th for drop off to help kick off  our last Chick-fil-A Spirit Night of the 2013/2014 School Year!  And this time – it’s extended for 4 DAYS!!!

Let’s all help to make this “Spirit Week” a big hit!

- Simply enjoy a delicious meal at Chick-fil-A of Celebration between Monday, May 5th and Thursday, May 8th (Any meal time. Dine-In or Drive-Thru.)

- SAVE your receipts (must be dated between 5/5-5/8)! Write your classroom/homeroom teacher’s name on it and turn it in to your teacher or the front office.

At the end of the week:

- Chick-fil-A at Celebration will donate 10% of all receipts collected to our school.

- The classroom/homeroom with the highest total in receipts will win a Chick-Fil-A Nugget party for their class.  The winner will be announced during the Celebration K-8 Talent Show – Friday, May 5th @ Celebration High School.

The more people eating chicken, the more money we earn!!! Everyone you know can participate, as often as they’d like (any meal time) – just be sure to SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS and TURN THEM IN to your teacher / front office).

Teacher Appreciation week is coming: (May 5th – May 9th) and we need lots of help!

Monday (May 5th) – Margaritas, Chips and Salsa. We need volunteers at 2:30 in the Great Hall to help serve.

Wednesday (May 7th) – Smoothies in the Great Hall.

orange juice
plain yogurt
4 – blenders
* Please drop off all donations at 12:30 to the Great Hall.
* Volunteers (need 6) should plan to come to the Great Hall at 1:30 (some will be helping with the smoothies and others will be helping with the staff lunch in the cafeteria)*

Thursday (May 8th) – Middle School Luncheon
** Volunteers (need 8) should plan to arrive at 10:45 to the Middle School Pride **
** please contact Jacquie Hobgood (843-452-4019) to coordinate what type of food you would like to bring as well as drop off time and place.**

Parents & Students,

Yesterday, a few local residents lost their homes to a massive fire. Effective immediately, we are accepting gift cards at the front office. The gift cards will be shared with students of families that have lost everything in the fire. Here are the requests if you plan to donate:

If you would like to donate please drop off a gift card in the front office. Ms. Vicky and Ms. Linda will be taking the donations. The donation MUST be in the form of a gift card because we cannot accept cash. Please place the gift card in a sealed envelope labeled “Fire Victim Donation”. Any gift card is acceptable but some ideas are Publix, Target or Walmart

Call for PTA Board Members

If you have a student at Celebration K-8, you should have received a packet last week that contained information about electing our board members for next year and how you can submit yourself for any of these positions.  These positions are open to anyone interested in being involved with PTA: parents, teachers, staff, even grandparents or other community members!
We will be hosting a breakfast next Tuesday, April 15th, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the 851 Building (Town Hall).  This was originally scheduled to be in the Great Hall, but due to FCAT we have relocated.
We hope you can join us for a light breakfast and to get more information about how you can become more involved with Celebration K-8 PTA!

Please take a moment to read the following letter from Deputy Chaney:

PTA, SAC, and Parents,

It’s that time of year again as we are gearing up for the end of the school year and summer fun. I know the economy is tough and the money is tight on everyone. However, as a School Resource Office, I am tasked with putting the word out about the Sheriff’s Adventure Camp. The camp was started in 1995 as a way to build a positive influence on youth’s of Osceola County who might be at-risk of juvenile delinquency. By at-risk, I mean any child between the ages of 10-14, as this age is one of the most influential ages in the development process. Last year the adventure camp was increased from 5 weeks to 8 weeks so that we could put more kids through the experience of this great camp.

The first Monday after school ends until the Friday before school starts back up, the camp houses 16 boys and 16 girls overnight for the cost of only $25.00 per child. The camp includes all the meals, and they sleep in air conditioned bunk houses that were build last year. All the kids who attend the camp are from Osceola County and 20 from Celebration School alone are attending.

The cost is able to be so low by the money raised from the E.P. Murphy Golf Tournament as all money raised goes to the camp. Each golfer who participates in the golf tournament receives a door prize and luncheon. What we are looking for is any type of donation possible, (cash, gift cards for dinner, golf etc…). If you can help with some type of donation that will benefit the camp please get with me, or at least pass the word out to your business friends in the community. I have attached the golf tournament contribution letter to this email and gift receipt. If you have any question please let me know.
